Donations & use of funds

Gracivo is funded by individual donors, monthly supporters, sponsors, partners and sales from the Gracivo shop.

• How we use funds. Donations are used for animal rescue, veterinary care, medicine, food, sterilization, transport, shelter supplies and the minimum administration needed to run safely. Our target split is published on the Transparency page and compared with actual spending.
• Restricted gifts. If you give for a specific case or program, we use it for that purpose. If that need is already fully covered (or the animal passes away), we will use the gift for the most similar urgent need and tell you.
• How donations are made. We do not take card payments on this website. After you fill in a donation form, a team member contacts you personally with the payment options. Gracivo will never ask you to pay through an unknown person or account — if in doubt, write to info@gracivo.org.
• Receipts. We confirm every donation in writing. Whether a gift is tax-deductible depends on our legal status and your country; we state this clearly on the Transparency page.
• Refunds. If you made a mistake with a donation, contact us within 30 days and we will do our best to refund it.
• Gifts we may decline. We may decline money or partnerships that conflict with animal welfare or our values.

Donor & data privacy

• We collect only the information you give us in our forms (such as name, email, phone and your message) to answer you and manage your support.
• We never sell, rent or trade your personal data. We do not publish donor names without written permission.
• Our website counts visits without cookies and without storing IP addresses.
• Files sent with welfare reports and help requests are stored privately and seen only by our team.
• You can ask us to see, correct or delete your data, or unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, by writing to info@gracivo.org.

Adoption policy

• Animals are adopted after a veterinary check, deworming, the vaccines appropriate for their age and, whenever old enough, sterilization.
• Adopters fill in an interest form, have a conversation with our team and, where possible, a home visit or video call. We look for the right match, not the first applicant.
• Adopters must be adults and agree to keep the animal indoors or in a safe, enclosed space, provide veterinary care, and never abandon, sell or give the animal away.
• If an adoption doesn't work out, the animal must be returned to Gracivo — we will always take it back.
• We stay in touch after adoption to support the new family.

Volunteer code of conduct

• Animal welfare and safety come first — for the animals, the public and yourself.
• Follow the instructions of the team coordinator and our medical protocols. Never give medicine without veterinary instruction.
• Treat everyone — colleagues, adopters, neighbours and people reporting cases — with respect.
• Never post photos of private homes, people or case details on social media without permission. Report information remains confidential.
• Never accept money on behalf of Gracivo unless authorized; all donations go through official channels.
• Volunteers under 18 need written permission from a parent or guardian and take part only in suitable activities.

Animal welfare standards

• Every animal in our care receives food, water, shelter, veterinary attention and kindness.
• We use humane methods only: humane traps, gentle handling and positive reinforcement.
• We support Trap-Neuter-Return for community cats and sterilization for all adopted animals.
• Euthanasia is only considered on a veterinarian's advice to end suffering that cannot be relieved — never for space or convenience.
• We document every case honestly, including the animals we could not save.

Complaints & feedback

If you are unhappy with something we did — or did not do — please tell us at info@gracivo.org or through our contact form. We will acknowledge your message within 5 working days, look into it honestly, and tell you what we will change. Concerns about the use of funds are reviewed by someone not involved in the spending in question.
