Authorities and organizations can only act on what they can verify. Clear, honest documentation protects the animal — and you.
What to record
- Where: exact address or location pin, and a photo showing the place
- When: date and time of each incident — keep a simple diary if it repeats
- What: photos and short videos of the animal's condition, the lack of food, water or shelter, injuries
- Who: descriptions of people or vehicles involved, and other witnesses willing to speak
Tips for good photos and videos
- Take wide shots (showing the place) and close-ups (showing the injury or condition).
- Film for at least 30 seconds without editing or filters.
- Keep the original files — don't only send screenshots or compressed copies.
- Never trespass or put yourself in danger to get a picture.
